Hi all! We have recently pushed out a new version of Remobo (0.20.1) It’s more of a bug fix and maintenance release but one big thing for Mac users is that it now supports OS X Tiger. We wanted it to support PPC platforms as well but there are still some issues to work out.
Thanks for everyones continued support! We will have even more exciting features coming soon… as well as a way for developers out there to help us make Remobo even better!

This update has been LONG overdue… but it’s finally here. You may notice some slight differences, but most of the changes are internal and there are lots of bug fixes as well. Much of the code has been rewritten and we have laid the groundwork for some exciting features on the way.
For now, we want everyone to upgrade first (it will require you to re-add your buddies due to increased security). Once we are sure everything is stable again, we will start rolling out the new features. Thanks for supporting Remobo!

We recently noticed some nice spikes in user registrations, and after some digging we were pleased to find that some of you bloggers out there are helping us spread the word about Remobo… and perhaps more importantly, sharing your feedback, both positive and negative with everyone.
Luckily for us, the overall sentiment about Remobo is great. We are very happy that Remobo is actually filling a need out there, whether it be for VPN connectivity, remote desktop control, or our shiny new private BitTorrent file sharing. They of course also point out that we are in beta and still have some work ahead of us before a full release. We definitely agree!
Here’s a list of some of the awesome blogs out there that have taken the time to write about Remobo and give us their fair reviews:

download.com – Remote everything using Remobo
downloadsquad.com – Remobo: VPN, Chat, Filesharing, Remote Control All-In-One!
thefreewarejunkie.com – Social networking with P2P and more!
makeuseof.com – How To Set Up an Instant Private Network with Remobo
They all had a lot of good things to say about Remobo… in particular about the ease of use, the vpn connectivity, and of course the private file sharing using BitTorrent… but what about the concerns?
One major concern was the VNC integration… it can be a bit clumsy especially if you already have VNC installed… and since the password is the same as your Remobo password, its hard to let others remote control into your computer. In addition, if you choose to “save my password and login automatically”, your password is stored locally… which is not very secure. We will definitely fix this asap! The short-term fix is to NOT have Remobo save your password to login automatically (ie, don’t check the checkbox and your password will not be stored locally at all).
Edit: This VNC password issue is now fixed in version 0.13!
This kind of feedback and reviews that can really help us make Remobo a better product… Thanks again to all the beta users out there and to those who have taken the time to post bugs and issues in our forum… and of course to everyone who has help us spread the word about how Remobo is a great product. It will just continue to get better with everyone’s input!
If you have a blog post about Remobo that we have missed, please contact us and we’ll add you to this list
